The EU’s clean energy package is expected to be signed soon. In this document, energy production at the local level is percieved crucial to foster renewable energy production.
However, energy communities still face many obstacles to their development such as constraining national legal frameworks, limited access to national electricity grids and to finance and a general lack of political support.
Each Member state will have, from the moment the Winter Package is signed, 18 months to translate this European directives into national legislation, thereby enabling the creation of local energy communities (LECs).
The new legal framework for LECs will be key in the further outroll of energy synergies on business parks. Therefore, the BISEPS partnership organises a conference on this topic, in collaboration with Flux50 and ROLECS (website under construction).
During this conference, among others, a European guest will give background information on local energy communities and the creation of the Winter Package. Distribution system operators in far-ahead European countries will explain how local energy communities are organised in their respective countries, business cases for LECs will be presented and interactive sessions will be organised to collect your insights on this topic. The full programme will be released shortly.
